Caption: The Front I casemates are divided into two sections. The rooms on the inner side were barracks. The ones on the outer side originally had cannon looking east over the channel. When Battery Stevenson was built the new coverface blocked these cannon, so the rooms were re-appropriated for other purposes. (September 6, 2010)
