Caption: Closest to the camera is a crash truck built in 1942 by Sealand Corp. on a GMC chassis. It was built for Pratt & Whitney's airport in East Hartford, CT, and is essentially a large ABC type fire extinguisher, utilizing ammonium phosphate powder to extinguish fires. It was retired in 1987. Behind it is a Type 45 pumper (500 GPM) built by Mack in 1947 for Hingham, MA, and retired in 1972. (August 29, 2010)
