The Plymouth/Kingston line follows the original main line of the Old Colony Railroad. The Kingston station is on a short branch that was built new by the MBTA when it restored passenger service in 1997. Most trains terminate there, with one round trip a day stopping at both Kingston and Plymouth (making a lengthy reverse move in the process).
