Caption: Launch Complex 39B was deactivated at the start of 2007 to permit reconfiguration needed to handle launches of future rocket designs. Cranes can be seen disassembling the fixed service structure, which will return the pad to a configuration similar to how it was during the Apollo era. The three towers on the sides of the pad are lightning masts installed in 2007 as part of the conversion. (March 15, 2011)
