Caption: The Vehicle Assembly Building, built in 1966 for stacking the Saturn V rockets used during the Apollo program. Following the end of the Apollo program it was modified to handle the space shuttle. With the latter program coming to an end, the future of the VAB is uncertain. Just to the right of the VAB is Orbiter Processing Facility 2 (used for inspecting one of the shuttle's after landing), while to the left is the Launch Control Center, which houses the four control or "firing" rooms.
