In 1959 the MTA opened the Riverside branch from a connection with the Cleveland Circle branch just outside Kenmore to a new yard at Riverside. The line was originally the Boston & Albany's Highland Branch, which the MTA bought a few years earlier and converted to light rail operation. The branch is probably the most scenic one on the T.
