Caption: The same train from before disappears into the Park Ave Tunnel. A horrific accident occurred in the tunnel on January 8, 1902 when a train missed several signals (which were obscured by smoke) and rear-ended another train, killing 15 people. Subsequently, NYC passed a law banning steam locomotives from the city limits, forcing the electrification of all lines entering the city. (October 11, 2010)
