Caption: The gap between 01450 and 01455. The reason for the uneven spacing of the end walls is that the door controls were mounted on the exterior of the cars. Cars of this era did not have cabs that streched the full width of the car, so at stations with platforms on the left attendants would have to reach between the cars and operate the exterior door controls.
