  • Caption: The High Line was an elevated New York Central branch that ran from 34th St down to Spring St along the west side of Manhattan. It was built in 1934 to provide grade-separated freight service, the original street trackage having become quite dangerous, and was abandoned in 1980. One of the features of the line was that sidings went directly into the buildings they served. A short spur off the High Line once went into this building at the corner of 10th Ave and 30th St. It's still obvious where the tracks went into the building, even though the entrances have long been bricked up.
