Caption: The Fisher Bridge over the Lamoille River in Wolcott, VT, on the abandoned Lamoille Valley Railroad (ex-St. Johnsbury & Lake Champlain). Built in 1908, this is one of the last covered railroad bridges in the U.S. and the last one in Vermont. It is also the only one which still has a cupola for venting smoke from steam locomotives. In 1968 it was strengthened with steel beams placed under the tracks, which saved it from being replaced with a newer span. Today the bridge is the centerpiece of a small park alongside VT 14.
