  • Caption: Type 5 #5734 is property of the Seashore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine, and is one of two historic cars displayed on the abandoned outer inbound platform at Boylston. The Type 5s were built by J.G. Brill in Philadelphia after World War I and lasted until 1959. You'll notice that I often refer to Green Line cars as being "Type x". This refers to the various generations of cars built specifically for Boston. A mock-up of a Type 6 was constructed (and is displayed at Seashore) but it was never built. The PCC and Boeing cars don't fall into the "Type x" classification becuase neither was designed just for Boston. (December 27, 2006)
